Phoenix Residential Homes

Offers a variety of programs, all with the goal to end youth homelessness. We have both short-term and long-term residential services for youth experiencing homelessness.

Emergency Youth Shelter Program

The Emergency Youth Shelter Program provides a temporary sanctuary for homeless, runaway and abandoned youth ages 10-17 until a permanent home is found.

The emergency youth shelter provides short-term supportive housing for up to 13 youth ages 10-17 every night. The highly-individualized program is designed to meet the immediate needs of homeless youth and to equip them with the tools they need to grow into healthy, independent adults. During their time in our care, we provide youth with the following no-cost services:

  • Basic necessities including shelter, food, clothing, personal hygiene products, and medical and dental care.
  • Education services. Youth either attend our on-site classrooms or enroll at a local campus. Outside of the classroom, the shelter provides educational opportunities through field trips, community service projects, social activities, and ways to engage with volunteers.
  • Mental health care. Group and individual counseling and on-site psychiatric care help clients to understand and care for mental problems that might otherwise prevent them from achieving success both during and after their stay at Phoenix Residential.
  • Family therapy designed to teach constructive parenting techniques and communication skills.
  • Life and job skills training. During their time in care, all youth receive age-appropriate life skills training. Some examples include financial literacy, cooking, healthy communication skills, and college and career readiness.

Transitional Living Program

The Transitional Living Program at Phoenix Residential equips homeless youth ages 18 through 23 years old with the skills and education necessary to become independent, productive adults. The program’s goal is to help formerly homeless youth develop much-needed independent living skills in a nurturing environment that offers stability, consistency and safety. Created for older teens who truly have no other resources, the program provides no-cost:

  • Shelter (up to 18 months) and basic necessities like food and clothing
  • Medical and dental care
  • Psychological assessments and mental health services
  • Counseling
  • Education assistance
  • Job aptitude evaluation and career planning services
  • Life skills training
  • Recreational opportunities
  • Assistance locating and leasing apartments
  • Case management

Youth can move through the program at their own pace and retain access to counseling and case management services even after exiting Phoenix Residential. Each youth receives a Case Manager who serves as their point of contact – helping them navigate community resources and learn to live independently.
